Dr. Masetti, the Senior Medical Director and Chair of the HopeXchange Medical Advisory Council, has an international reputation for clinical, academic, and research excellence. Dr. Masetti is the Associate Professor of Surgery and Director of the Breast Center and of the Surgical Breast Unit at the Catholic University of Rome, Italy. He received his degree as a M.D. and a surgical oncologist in Italy, and has completed numerous postgraduate training stages in top-ranking cancer centers in Europe and the United States. Dr. Masetti is the founder of Komen Italia, the Italian Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, now one of the most active and successful breast cancer organizations in Italy, providing medically underserved communities in Italy with new opportunities for early detection and improved breast cancer care.
Among his academic activities, Dr. Masetti serves as the Director of the multi-annual “Educational Program in Breast Cancer in Italy,” currently in its ninth year, which provides continuing medical education to more than 10,000 health care providers in Central and Southern Italy. He is also the Director of two CME programs in Oncology for Primary Care Physicians and Medical Students funded by the Italian Ministry for University.
